Elm Electrical Inc., out of Westfield, MA, chooses T&D PowerSkills Learning Management System to aid in training electrical lineworkers. Elm is a diversified automation, construction, and electrical services provider that has been serving commercial and industrial customers throughout the Northeast since 1971.

T&D PowerSkills welcomes Chu-Con, Inc. as a new customer, selecting the DVD-deliverable training materials. Chu-Con is a contractor in Middlesboro, Kentucky.

Another vocational college is now using T&D PowerSkills materials to support their training programs: Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Murfreesboro. The TCAT – Murfreesboro is one of 46 institutions in the Tennessee Board of Regents System, the seventh largest system of higher education in the nation.

H&M Group is an industry leading utility contractor providing critical infrastructure for the power, oil and gas pipeline, gas distribution and communications markets throughout North America. 

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published a final rule today that clarifies certification requirements for crane operators, and maintains the employer’s duty to ensure that crane operators can safely operate the equipment. The final rule will maintain safety and health protections for workers while reducing compliance burdens. Under the final rule, employers are required to train operators as needed to perform assigned crane activities, evaluate them, and document successful completion of the evaluations. Employers who have evaluated operators prior to December 9, 2018, will not have to conduct those evaluations again, but will only have to document when those evaluations were completed. The rule also requires crane operators to be certified or licensed, and receive ongoing training as necessary to operate new equipment. Operators can be certified based on the crane’s type and capacity, or type only, which ensures that more accredited testing organizations are eligible to meet OSHA’s certification program requirements. The final rule revises a 2010 requirement that crane operator certification must specify the rated lifting capacity of cranes for which the operator is certified. Compliant certifications that were already issued by type and capacity are still acceptable under this final rule. The final rule, with the exception of the evaluation and documentation requirements, will become effective on Dec. 9, 2018. The evaluation and documentation requirements will become effective on February 7, 2019. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) today renewed a national strategic partnership agreement with the Electrical Transmission and Distribution (ET&D) Construction Contractors; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW); and related trade associations to protect the safety and health of line workers, and other electrical transmission and distribution industry workers.

Sleigo Enterprises, LLC, an electric utility contractor based in Seven Points, TX, selects T&D PowerSkills Learning Management System (LMS) to help support their new lineworker apprenticeship training program. Sleigo provides powerline construction and maintenance, right of way clearing and land management, storm restoration and emergency response, streetlight maintenance and all high and low voltage applications of electrical work.

LG&E and KU Services Company, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation, selects T&D PowerSkills Learning Management System (LMS) to help support their existing T&D PowerSkills Instructor-led apprenticeship and journeyman refresher program. LG&E and KU serve nearly 1.3 million customers with LG&E in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties and KU in 77 Kentucky counties and five counties in Virginia.

ElectriCities of North Carolina, a long time client of the T&D PowerSkills Instructor-led course units, has decided to pursue a pilot program using the T&D PowerSkills LMS for the next 9 months. ElectriCities of North Carolina is a membership organization representing 70+ municipality communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. 

Florida Public Utilities, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, selects T&D PowerSkills Instructor-led units to support their existing lineworker apprenticeship training program. FPU provides natural gas, electricity and propane gas service to homes and businesses throughout Florida.

PoleSet, Inc., located in Prosperity, PA, selects T&D PowerSkills Instructor-led package, to replace their existing lineworker apprenticeship training program. PoleSet is a high voltage, 69kV and below, electrical power line contractor specializing in off-road, difficult terrain environments. They've been serving the high voltage utility, mining and energy markets for over 25 years.

North American Substation Services, LLC, located in Altamonte Springs, FL, selects T&D PowerSkills Substation Package to support their new substation tech training program. NASS is a nationally-recognized expert and independent provider of installation, repair and maintenance services to mission critical high voltage substation equipment throughout the United States.

Our recently released Cable Splicing 2 unit, which compliments the recently released Cable Splicing 1 unit, builds on the principles of cable splicing by illustrating how lineworkers deal with a variety of primary and secondary cable splicing situations. You'll see how lineworkers splice three phase cables in a vault, how a splice is made on a buried cable with a repair length, as well as how a splice is made on a cable where all three primary phases are bundled in a single cable jacket.
